There is something deeply satisfying about pulling a golden, fragrant loaf out of a bread machine, especially when you are navigating the extra nutritional demands that come with nursing. This classic white bread is built on simple, wholesome ingredients — warm water, butter, bread flour, sugar, salt, and yeast — with nothing hidden or unnecessary in the mix. That matters when you are paying close attention to everything going into your body and, by extension, your baby's. The unsalted butter keeps sodium in check while still giving the crumb that soft, rich texture that makes a slice genuinely irresistible. Letting the machine do the heavy lifting means you can rest or tend to your little one while a beautiful loaf practically makes itself. Once it cools and you cut into that pillowy interior, it is perfect for toast, sandwiches, or just eaten warm with a little extra butter on top. Simple food, made well, is exactly what this season calls for.

Add the ingredients to the bread machine pan in the order listed: water, butter, sugar, salt, bread flour, and yeast. Make a small well in the center of the flour and pour the yeast into it, keeping the yeast away from the salt.
Insert the pan into the bread machine, select the Basic or White Bread cycle, choose your preferred crust color (medium is recommended), and press Start. The full cycle will run approximately 3 hours.
