Soft, pillowy dinner rolls fresh from the oven are one of those things that make any meal feel like a special occasion, and this bread machine method makes them genuinely approachable on a weeknight. The ingredient list is beautifully simple — warm water, butter, egg, flour, sugar, salt, and yeast — with zero red meat or meat-derived ingredients anywhere in sight. That matters more than it might seem, since store-bought rolls and packaged breads can sometimes contain hidden animal-based additives that are easy to overlook on a label. Here, you know exactly what's going in the pan. The bread machine handles all the heavy lifting through the dough and first rise cycles, so by the time you're shaping the rolls, the hardest part is already done. A final brush of melted butter straight out of the oven gives them that glossy, golden finish that makes it nearly impossible to eat just one. Serve them alongside soups, salads, or any main dish and watch them disappear before the table is even fully set.

Add the ingredients to the bread machine pan in the order recommended by your machine's manufacturer — typically liquids first. Add the warm water, softened butter, and egg, then add the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a small well in the center of the flour and add the yeast. Select the Dough cycle and press Start.
When the Dough cycle completes (typically 90 minutes, including kneading and the first rise), the dough should be smooth, slightly tacky, and roughly doubled in size. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
