Soft, pillowy dinner rolls fresh from the oven are one of those simple pleasures that make any meal feel like a special occasion. These come together with a short list of pantry staples — flour, butter, egg, sugar, salt, and yeast — with absolutely no oats or oat-derived ingredients anywhere in the recipe. That matters more than it might seem, since store-bought rolls and packaged bread products often sneak in oat flour or oat fiber as a filler, making label-reading a constant chore. The bread machine does the heavy lifting on kneading and the first rise, so you're mostly just shaping and waiting while your kitchen fills with that irresistible yeasty warmth. A final brush of melted butter straight out of the oven gives each roll a glossy, rich finish that's genuinely hard to resist. Serve them alongside a weeknight roast, pile them onto a holiday table, or just tear one apart while it's still warm — no accompaniment required.

Add the ingredients to the bread machine pan in the order recommended by your machine's manufacturer — typically liquids first. Add the warm water, softened butter, and egg, then add the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a small well in the center of the flour and add the yeast. Select the Dough cycle and press Start.
When the Dough cycle completes (typically 90 minutes, including kneading and the first rise), the dough should be smooth, slightly tacky, and roughly doubled in size. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
