Soft, golden, pull-apart dinner rolls are one of those things that feel almost impossible to replicate at home — until you realize how straightforward they can be with a bread machine doing the heavy lifting. These rolls come together with a short list of wholesome pantry staples: flour, butter, egg, sugar, salt, yeast, and warm water. There are no additives, no stabilizers, and no emulsifiers hiding in the ingredient list, which makes this recipe a genuinely clean alternative to store-bought rolls that almost always contain lecithin or similar additives to extend shelf life. The bread machine handles the kneading and first rise, so by the time you shape the dough into twelve smooth balls, most of the work is already done. A second rise lets them puff up and press together in the pan, giving you that classic soft-sided pull-apart texture. A brush of melted butter straight out of the oven adds a rich, glossy finish that makes them nearly impossible to resist. Serve them warm alongside a roast, a bowl of soup, or honestly just on their own — they really don't need much else.

Add the ingredients to the bread machine pan in the order recommended by your machine's manufacturer — typically liquids first. Add the warm water, softened butter, and egg, then add the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a small well in the center of the flour and add the yeast. Select the Dough cycle and press Start.
When the Dough cycle completes (typically 90 minutes, including kneading and the first rise), the dough should be smooth, slightly tacky, and roughly doubled in size. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
