Soft, pillowy dinner rolls fresh from the oven are one of those things that make any meal feel like a special occasion, and this bread machine method makes them genuinely easy to pull off. The dough comes together with pantry staples — flour, butter, egg, sugar, salt, and yeast — so there's nothing mysterious or complicated hiding in the ingredient list. Letting the machine handle the kneading and first rise means you can walk away and come back to perfectly developed dough, ready to shape into twelve golden rounds. A final brush of melted butter straight out of the oven gives each roll a glossy, rich finish that's almost impossible to resist. These are completely free of poultry in any form, which makes them a reliable choice when you're building a spread around other proteins or simply want a crowd-pleasing side that works for everyone at the table. Serve them warm alongside soups, stews, or a big holiday roast and watch them disappear before anything else on the table does.

Add the ingredients to the bread machine pan in the order recommended by your machine's manufacturer — typically liquids first. Add the warm water, softened butter, and egg, then add the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a small well in the center of the flour and add the yeast. Select the Dough cycle and press Start.
When the Dough cycle completes (typically 90 minutes, including kneading and the first rise), the dough should be smooth, slightly tacky, and roughly doubled in size. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
