Soft, pillowy dinner rolls fresh from the oven are one of those simple pleasures that feel genuinely special, and this recipe makes them surprisingly achievable on any given weeknight. The bread machine does all the heavy lifting — mixing, kneading, and the first rise — so you're not standing at a counter exhausted when you'd rather be resting. Once the dough cycle finishes, you shape the rolls, let them puff up one more time, and bake until they're deeply golden and irresistible. For anyone nursing, keeping meals nourishing and low-stress matters, and these rolls deliver real comfort food made from wholesome, straightforward ingredients like eggs, butter, and flour — nothing mysterious on the label. A brush of melted butter straight out of the oven takes them from great to genuinely hard to stop eating. They pair beautifully with soups, stews, or really anything on the dinner table, and leftovers reheat wonderfully the next day.

Add the ingredients to the bread machine pan in the order recommended by your machine's manufacturer — typically liquids first. Add the warm water, softened butter, and egg, then add the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a small well in the center of the flour and add the yeast. Select the Dough cycle and press Start.
When the Dough cycle completes (typically 90 minutes, including kneading and the first rise), the dough should be smooth, slightly tacky, and roughly doubled in size. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
