This vibrant cocktail is everything a warm-weather drink should be — bright, fruity, and just a little tart. A quick homemade berry syrup made from fresh or frozen mixed berries gives it a gorgeous deep color and natural sweetness that no store-bought mixer can match. The combination of blanco tequila, freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, and a splash of lime creates that classic bittersweet backbone, while the chilled sparkling water keeps things light and effervescent. Because every component here is made from scratch using whole fruits, citrus, and simple pantry staples, there's no need to scan labels for hidden fermented additives or worry about what's lurking in a pre-made mix. Shaking it over ice and straining into a frosty glass takes less than five minutes once your syrup is ready, making it genuinely easy to pull off for a crowd. Garnished with fresh berries and a citrus wedge, it looks like something you'd order at a rooftop bar — except you made it yourself, and it's even better.

Combine the berries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the berries break down and release their juices, about 4–5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
Press the berry mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a small bowl or jar, pressing firmly on the solids to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids. You should have about 3–4 tbsp of berry syrup.
