This vibrant, fruit-forward cocktail is everything a warm-weather drink should be — bright, a little tart, and genuinely refreshing. A quick homemade berry syrup made from fresh or frozen mixed berries, sugar, and water gives each sip a deep, jammy sweetness that no bottled mixer can replicate. Fresh-squeezed grapefruit and lime juice keep things lively, while blanco tequila ties it all together with just enough edge. Because every ingredient here is whole and straightforward, there's zero concern about the refined seed oils that sneak into so many commercial syrups, flavored spirits, and pre-made cocktail mixes. You're building everything from scratch, so you know exactly what's going in the glass. The sparkling water finish keeps it light and effervescent, and a handful of fresh berries on top makes it look like something you'd pay way too much for at a rooftop bar. Make it for a crowd or just treat yourself — either way, it comes together fast and tastes like summer.

Combine the berries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the berries break down and release their juices, about 4–5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
Press the berry mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a small bowl or jar, pressing firmly on the solids to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids. You should have about 3–4 tbsp of berry syrup.
