This vibrant cocktail is the kind of drink that makes any gathering feel like a celebration. A homemade berry syrup — built from fresh or frozen mixed berries simmered down with sugar and water — gives the drink a jewel-toned color and a fruity depth that no store-bought mixer can match. Bright grapefruit juice, a squeeze of lime, and blanco tequila round out the base, while chilled sparkling water adds a refreshing fizz right at the end. The whole thing comes together in minutes once your syrup is ready, and straining it through a fine mesh sieve keeps the texture silky smooth. Every single ingredient here is naturally free from tree nuts, so there's no label-checking or substitution stress involved — just clean, simple components that do exactly what you want them to do. Serve it over ice in a tall glass with a few fresh berries and a citrus wedge, and it looks as good as it tastes.

Combine the berries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the berries break down and release their juices, about 4–5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
Press the berry mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a small bowl or jar, pressing firmly on the solids to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids. You should have about 3–4 tbsp of berry syrup.
