This cocktail is a stunning twist on a classic paloma — bright, fruity, and refreshing in a way that feels genuinely special without requiring any bartending experience. A quick homemade berry syrup made from fresh or frozen mixed berries, sugar, and water does all the heavy lifting, giving the drink a jewel-toned color and a natural sweetness that store-bought mixers simply can't match. Blanco tequila, freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, and a splash of lime juice keep things crisp and citrus-forward, while a pinch of salt ties every element together beautifully. The whole thing is finished with chilled sparkling water poured gently down the side of the glass, so every sip stays perfectly effervescent. Every ingredient here is straightforwardly natural — fresh fruit, citrus, and spirits — so there's no need to scrutinize labels or worry about unexpected additives sneaking in. It comes together in minutes and looks absolutely gorgeous garnished with a few extra berries and a wedge of grapefruit. Whether you're hosting a summer brunch or just treating yourself on a weeknight, this is the kind of drink that makes the occasion feel elevated.

Combine the berries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the berries break down and release their juices, about 4–5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
Press the berry mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a small bowl or jar, pressing firmly on the solids to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids. You should have about 3–4 tbsp of berry syrup.
