This cocktail is the kind of drink that makes a regular evening feel like a proper occasion. The homemade berry syrup is the real star — simmering fresh or frozen mixed berries with sugar and water until they collapse into a jewel-toned, fragrant liquid that you strain into silky smoothness. That syrup gets shaken hard with blanco tequila, freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, a hit of lime, and a pinch of salt before being poured over ice and finished with chilled sparkling water. The result is bright, a little tart, a little sweet, and beautifully fizzy in the glass. Every single ingredient here is naturally free from tree nut concerns, so you can mix and sip without a second thought about what's hiding in a store-bought mixer or pre-made syrup. Garnished with fresh berries and a citrus wedge, it's as gorgeous to look at as it is to drink. Make it for a summer gathering or just a Tuesday — either way, it absolutely delivers.

Combine the berries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the berries break down and release their juices, about 4–5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
Press the berry mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a small bowl or jar, pressing firmly on the solids to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids. You should have about 3–4 tbsp of berry syrup.
