Update for Fig members who avoid corn

Published on August 6, 2024
Food Allergies

Dear Fig Members,

I have some exciting news to share with you regarding the corn allergy options on Fig!

Previously, the Fig app allowed you to avoid two types of corn-related ingredients: corn and corn derivatives. Based on feedback from our members, we are thrilled to announce the addition of a third option: Products from Corn-fed Animals.

You’ll now see these options when creating or updating your Fig profile:

Here’s a brief overview of this new option:

Products from Corn-Fed Animals:

This category includes products such as eggs and dairy from animals that have been fed corn-based feed.

Which corn allergy option should I select on Fig?

Many people with a corn allergy only need to select the “Corn ingredients” option on Fig which includes ingredients like corn, corn starch, and corn flour.

If you’re especially sensitive to corn, you might consider selecting some of the other corn options on Fig. As always, it’s best to work with your doctor and/or dietitian to determine which ingredients and allergens you personally need to avoid.

We hope these new options are helpful for you and your loved ones. As always, if there’s anything else we can do to improve Fig for you, please let us know. And if you come across any issues with the new corn options on Fig, please click the “Report issue” button in the app and let us know.

Have a great day!

Andrew & the Fig team
